Anti-Graffiti Systems of Brighton won the contract to clean the brickwork and sandstone front wall of the famous St Pancras Station and attached Renaissance Hotel in Kings Cross. The hotel occupies much of the site of the original Midland Grand Hotel which opened its doors in May of 1873 and closed in 1935. 138 years to the day of the original grand opening ceremony the hotel was reborn as the St. Pancras Renaissance London Hotel. English Heritage worked closely with AGS to ensure the building was respected and protected during the stone cleaning process. The work was sensitive, with years of carbon build up, efflorescence, calcium deposits and biological growth to remove. Due to the gentle and effective nature of Stonehealth cleaning systems both the DOFF and TORC were approved for use by English Heritage.
This video shows the amazing transformation.
